Our Mission
Our mission is to expose a diverse array of teens to political and civic engagement early on so that they are equipped to advocate and change their communities.
Our Vision
We envision cultivating a diverse and inspiring community of young people who are passionate about changing their communities and leading through civic and political engagement.
Who We Are
The Political and Civic Engagement Bootcamp enhances the leadership qualities that many of the youth and young adults in our communities already possess, and hones in on teaching them skill sets necessary to be effective leaders in their schools, sports, and even faith based activities. Furthermore, the bootcamp is designed to give teens and young adults a taste of what it is like to advocate on Capitol Hill, and in their respective state/local governments. In my view, young people should not have to wait until they are older to discover a passion for political and civic engagement.
"I believe that our youth hold their own key to a successful future."

My Story
Early Years
I remember being drawn to politics at an early age when I decided to run for an office within the North Texas Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., a youth enrichment based organization. I was ecstatic to have been voted as President of my Chapter! A year later during my Junior year of high school, I was appointed to a Jack and Jill regional office (South Central Region).
College Years
The political bug did not stop with Jack and Jill, it also followed me to the prestigious HBCU Howard University, in Washington, DC where I would run for office my freshman year. Throughout my tenure at Howard, I ran for different offices on campus and was honored to represent the College of Arts and Sciences Freshman Class as Secretary, and I would later represent the College of Arts and Sciences as Executive Vice-President. Additionally, I represented the broader Howard University student body as a member of the Undergraduate Student Assembly, and as member of the Howard University Homecoming Board. Further, I held leadership positions with my sorority by serving as Parliamentarian for Alpha Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Finally, in law school I was elected to serve as Representative to the Graduate Student Assembly. During law school I had the opportunity to intern at the DC Council, and assist in drafting legislation impacting the District’s most vulnerable residents.
Present
After law school, I spent six years at the DC Council serving in leadership roles such as Committee Counsel, Legislative Counsel, Legislative Director, and Chief of Staff to At-Large Councilmembers. Additionally, I have worked on numerous successful political campaigns. After my tenure at the DC Council, I joined the legal team at the DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority (Affordable Care Act) where I assisted in expanding healthcare to all DC residents and small businesses. Currently, I serve as Assistant General Counsel at the DC Housing Finance Agency, where I work to provide affordable housing opportunities to District residents.
Each of these experiences have shaped my career in mission based legal service, ability to network, overcome obstacles, and maintain an unwavering focus for excellence. It is my hope and dream to help cultivate that in every teen that my program touches.
